Lillehammer, Norway (November 28, 2023) – USA Nordic Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes will travel to Lillehammer, Norway, this week to compete in the next FIS World Cup events of the 2023/2024 season. This will be the first World Cup events of the season for Women’s Ski Jumping and Women’s Nordic Combined. Events will be held from November 30th – December 3rd.

Men’s Nordic Combined Preview
Ben Loomis, Grant Andrews, Niklas Malacinski and Stephen Schumann will all represent the United States at the Men’s Nordic Combined World Cup events in Lillehammer, Norway. Last weekend, all four athletes competed in their first World Cup events of the 2023/2024 season in Ruka, Finland. Loomis finished in the points during every event last weekend in Ruka, placing 20th in the Compact HS142/7.5km, 30th in the HS142/10km, and 29th in the Mass Start HS142/10km. Malacinski recorded a new World Cup personal best, placing 21st overall in the Compact HS142/7.5km, and then followed up with a 25th place finish in the HS142/10km, as well as a 33rd overall finish in the Mass Start HS142/10km. Schumann was also able to record a new World Cup personal best, finishing 13th overall in the Compact HS142/7.5km, and then followed up with a 41st place finish in the HS142/10km, as well as a 26th place finish in the Mass Start HS142/10km. Andrews finished 53rd in the Compact HS142/7.5km, 42nd in the HS142/10km, and 45th in the Mass Start HS142/10km.
Women’s Nordic Combined Preview
Alexa Brabec and Annika Malacinski will represent the United States at the first Women’s Nordic Combined World Cup events of the season in Lillehammer, Norway. During the FIS Summer Grand Prix, Malacinski was able to record a 13th place finish during the HS105/5km event in the Oberwiesenthal SGP. Malcinski then followed this performance up with a 16th place finish in the HS106/5km event at the Oberstdorf SGP, as well as another 13th place finish in the HS98/5km event at the Villach SGP. Brabec had a successful summer as well during the FIS Summer Grand Prix, starting off with a 16th place finish in the HS105/5km event at the Oberwiesenthal SGP. Brabec then placed 23rd overall in the Oberstdorf SGP during the HS106/5km event, and ended her summer with 14th (Compact HS98/5km) and 23rd (HS98/5km) place finishes at the SGP events in Villach.
Men’s Ski Jumping Preview
Andrew Urlaub, Erik Belshaw, Decker Dean and Tate Frantz will all represent the United States at the Men’s Ski Jumping World Cup events in Lillehammer, Norway. Last weekend, all four athletes competed in their first World Cup events of the 2023/2024 season in Ruka, Finland. During Saturday’s HS142 World Cup, Urlaub placed 46th overall, and placed 48th overall during Sunday’s HS142 World Cup. Dean qualified for Saturday’s HS142 World Cup, placing 50th overall, as he was unable to qualify for the second round of action. Frantz was able to qualify for his first-ever World Cup competition on Sunday, as he scored his first-ever World Cup points as well, placing 30th overall in the HS142 World Cup. Belshaw was able to qualify for both of the weekend’s World Cup events, placing 42nd overall in Saturday’s HS142 World Cup. Belshaw then scored his first World Cup points of the season during Sunday’s HS142 World Cup, tying his World Cup personal best with a 24th overall finish.
Women’s Ski Jumping Preview
Josie Johnson, Paige Jones and Sam Macuga will all represent the United States at the first Women’ss Ski Jumping World Cup events of the season in Lillehammer, Norway. Johnson, Jones and Macuga competed in the FIS Summer Grand Prix circuit for the first time in their careers this past summer. Johnson placed 29th overall in both HS97 Summer Grand Prix events in Rasnov, Romania. Macuga competed in the Summer Grand Prix events in Szczyrk, Poland, placing 28th and 31st during the HS104 SGP events. Jones competed in both Rasnov and Szczyrk, placing 19th and 20th in the HS104 SGP events in Szczyrk, as well as 24th and 21st in the HS97 SGP events in Rasnov.
