Andrew Urlaub hails from a family of athletes. His father, Jeff, was a state champion wrestler in high school, and his mother, Michelle, and sister, Noelle, have both competed in multiple Birkebeiners – the largest cross country ski race in North America.
Urlaub’s love for skiing started at the age of 5, when he first learned to ski jump through the Flying Eagles Ski Club. His parents continued to motivate him throughout his career, and in 2019, Urlaub was named to the U.S. Men’s National Ski Jumping Team.
In 2019, Urlaub graduated from Memorial High School and enrolled at the University of Utah. His personal philosophy about sport is “sport will teach you how to “perform” at the challenges of daily life”. As he grows in his career, Urlaub hopes to inspire young athletes to shoot for the stars in the sport of ski jumping, just like his personal hero growing up, Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes.
Urlaub had his best season yet in 2022/23, scoring his first-ever individual World Cup points in Willingen. Urlaub was also able to card a new personal best at the 2023 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica, finishing 26th overall in the Individual HS100 World Championship.
