Park City, Utah (March 23, 2023) – USA Nordic Men’s Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes will be traveling to Lahti, Finland, this weekend to compete in different FIS World Cup events. Men’s Nordic Combined will compete in three World Cup competitions, with Men’s Ski Jumping competing in two, spanning from March 24-26. The HS130/10km event on Sunday, March 26th, is the final World Cup competition of the 2022/2023 season for Men’s Nordic Combined.

Men’s Nordic Combined Preview
Erik Lynch and Niklas Malacinski will represent the United States at the 2022/2023 FIS Men’s Nordic Combined World Cup final in Lahti, Finland. Last weekend, both Lynch and Malacinski competed at the FIS Men’s Nordic Combined Continental Cup events in Lahti. During the weekend’s two HS130/10km Continental Cups, Malacinski was able to earn 9th and 15th place finishes. Lynch placed 32nd and 36th during the two HS130/10km Continental Cups, while adding a 14th place finish in the Team Sprint HS130/10km COC with Carter Brubaker. Men’s Ski Jumping Preview
Andrew Urlaub, Casey Larson, Decker Dean and Erik Belshaw will all compete at the FIS Men’s Ski Jumping World Cup events in Lahti, Finland. Prior to traveling to Lahti, all four athletes competed in the Raw Air Tournament, which made stops in Oslo, Lillehammer and Vikersund, Norway. Starting in Oslo, Larson and Belshaw were able to qualify for the tournament’s first Individual HS134 World Cup on March 11th, with Urlaub barely missing the cut. Larson placed 32nd overall, with Belshaw coming in 42nd, as both athletes were unable to advance to the final round. Larson and Urlaub then qualified for the final Individual HS134 World Cup in Oslo on March 12th, with Larson coming in 47th and Urlaub coming in 49th.
The next stop in the Raw Air Tournament was Lillehammer, Norway, where Urlaub was the sole athlete to qualify for the first Individual HS140 World Cup on March 14th. During the first round, Urlaub was able to put together a 97.0 meter jump for 40.1 points, as he finished 47th overall. The final Individual HS140 World Cup in Lillehammer was held on March 16th, in which Dean, Larson and Belshaw were all able to qualify. Larson recorded the highest finish of the day, placing 35th overall, followed by Belshaw in 36th and Dean in 41st.
The Raw Air Tournament final was held in Vikersund, Norway, where athletes competed in two Individual HS240 Ski Flying World Cups. Dean was the only athlete able to qualify for the first HS240 World Cup held on March 18th. In the first round of action, Dean put together a 178.5 meter jump for 134.9 points, as he was able to advance to the final round. Dean then bested his first round performance, as he went 184.0 meters for 144.3 points. This gave him a 27th overall finish, as Dean was able to earn his first individual World Cup points of the season. Both Dean and Larson were then able to qualify for the final HS240 Ski Flying World Cup event of the tournament, which was held on March 19th.
