Where are you from? What club do you ski for?

I am from Lake Placid but living in Park City. I train with the Park City Ski team but represent NYSEF.

How old were you when you started ski jumping or Nordic combined?

I have been skiing since I could walk but started ski jumping at 8 and cross country skiing at 9.

Is this your first year on Junior World Championships team? 

Yes, first year!

What grade are you in?

I graduated high school in 2017 but I’m working on getting my commercial pilots license now.

How is school going right now?

Haven’t crashed so pretty good!

What is your favorite ski jumping or nordic combined memory?

Going far for the first time on a 90 or bigger, really feeling like you are flying is so fun!

Describe the feeling of ski jumping in your own words.

Its like flying but you are just laying on a platform and soaring through the air.

What is the result you are most proud of and why?

Qualifying for this year’s JWSC, it feels great to finally check that goal off the list.

What is one thing which you have been focused on improving which will help you meet these goals?

I have been focusing on stay relaxed and performing on the hill when it counts. Bringing my good training jumps into competition.

What is something new that you have added to your training repertoire this year?

I have been working with our sports psych a lot to help on the jumping side and bringing a high level of jumping to competition.

Do you prefer ski jumping or cross country skiing?

Thats a tough one. When jumping is going well it is all I want to do, but the effort in results out part of cross country is really satisfying.

For Nordic combined skiers Why do you do both?

I love the challenge.

What are your hobbies outside of skiing?

I love to ride my bike and beat Jared in card games.

What is your favorite post workout meal?

I love rice or pasta and eggs for lunch after a morning workout.

What is your spirit animal?

I’m a big fan of sharks.

Who do you think would win in a fight between a taco and a grilled cheese sandwich, and why?

That depends on if its a hard or soft taco I think. Hard taco would tie because it would stab the grilled cheese with the shell pieces but would fall apart at the same time because of this. Soft taco would fall apart and be engulfed by the melted cheese from the grilled cheese. So I think overall the grilled cheese takes the cake.
