Born in California, Sam Macuga, 23, moved to Park City, Utah with her family when she was 7-years-old. She learned to ski in the winter of 2008 through the Youth Sport’s Alliance after-school program, Get Out and Play, and fell in love. She tried other sports for years but never found anything that quite compared to Ski Jumping.
During the 2022/23 season, Macuga was able to record a new World Cup personal best, finishing 31st overall in the Individual HS97 World Cup in Rasnov, Romania. Macuga was also able to earn a new personal best at the 2023 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica, as she placed 36th overall in the Individual HS138 World Championship.
Macuga has three siblings, Lauren (a member of the U.S. Alpine B Team), Alli (a member of the U.S. Mogul D Team), and Daniel (who ski races at the FIS level). She graduated the Park City Winter Sports School in 2018 and is now enrolled at Dartmouth University. Macuga hopes to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2026.
