Park City, Utah (June 5, 2023) – Today, USA Nordic Sport (USANS) announced the promotion of Trevor Edlund, who will be the organization’s new Women’s Ski Jumping Head Coach. Edlund was recently honored at U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s annual Service to Sport Awards, winning the Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined International Coach of the Year Award.
“The Women’s Ski Jumping team had its best year since 2017, and it was vitally important to find the right person to build off of last year’s success,” said USA Nordic CEO, Adam Provost. “Trevor is a bright, energetic and thoughtful coach, who has earned the promotion to Head Coach. I can’t wait for the season to start and have Trevor lead our team this upcoming season.”
A third generation Ski Jumper, Edlund began Ski Jumping at the St. Paul Ski Club when he was just two years old. Edlund was named to the U.S. Men’s Ski Jumping Junior National Team in 2013, competing on the international stage until his retirement from Ski Jumping in 2017. After his retirement as a competitive athlete, Edlund went straight into coaching, being hired as a Ski Jumping Coach at Park City Ski and Snowboard. Edlund’s hard work did not go unnoticed, earning himself a Ski Jumping Assistant Coach position with USANS in 2021. Edlund will work underneath Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Sport Director, Anders Johnson, as the new Women’s Ski Jumping Head Coach.
“I’m very excited to continue working with the Women’s Ski Jumping team in a new leadership role,” said Edlund. “Women’s Ski Jumping in the United States has a bright future, with a lot of strong and motivated athletes. We have a young, talented National Team, and an energetic junior field right behind them. I feel confident and eager to take on this large task with the best team of athletes, service staff and coaches along my side.”
“Over the past three seasons, Trevor has really shown what an incredible coach he is. He is extremely hard-working, dedicated, and motivated to work for our athletes,” said Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Sport Director, Anders Johnson. “Trevor has been a key reason as to why our Ski Jumping programs have made big improvements over the years. I believe with him in the driver’s seat, we will see this team go on to do amazing things.”
