Park City, Utah (July 29, 2022) – USA Nordic Sport (USANS) Board Member Rex Bell was honored by U.S. Ski and Snowboard earlier this week, as he received the John J. Clair Award. The John J. Clair Award is awarded by U.S. Ski and Snowboard for outstanding service to National Teams.
USANS is grateful to U.S. Ski and Snowboard for recognizing Rex Bell’s efforts towards USA Nordic Sport, which is the National Leadership Organization for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined.
Bell, a pioneering leader in Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, was honored with the John J. Clair Award for his service to USA Nordic’s Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined National Teams. A former ski jumper and coach himself, Bell was one of the original founders of USA Ski Jumping and former President of USA Ski Jumping and USA Nordic Sport.
A tireless supporter of Ski Jumping, Bell has continued to fight to bring the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup back to America. He was successful in that endeavor, with the tour coming back to Iron Mountain, Michigan, next February. The last event in America was at Park City in 2004.
Bell chaired the USA Nordic board until 2020 and remains active on its executive committee. He also represents the USA on the FIS Equipment Subcommittee. He is a real estate developer in Maine and his company, Northland Enterprises, is a USA Nordic sponsor.
“I’m very grateful to have been honored with the John J. Clair Award from U.S. Ski and Snowboard. It’s also great that they are effectively recognizing the efforts of USA Nordic,” said USANS Board Member Rex Bell. “What I’ve been doing over these past twelve years for USA Nordic has been a labor of love. It’s a passion of mine to provide opportunities to our athletes, and help them to become the best that they can be. It’s all about the journey, and for me, this is a journey to continue to build USA Nordic.”
