USA Nordic and Team Magnus Gear Up to Help Kids Discover Snow Sports
National Athletics Organization Partners With Team Magnus to Provide Mini Ski Equipment to Athletes around the Nation
PARK CITY, Utah (November 16, 2020) Today, USA Nordic, the national leadership organization for nordic combined and ski jumping in America, announced its five-year partnership renewal with Team Magnus, the leading kids’ outdoor equipment brand, to provide free mini skis to kids in local communities. The continued partnership will allow kids across the country the opportunity to be introduced to skiing this winter in a new program launching at over two-dozen local schools and ski clubs across America.
The local ski program for kids renews the partnership between Team Magnus and USA Nordic. Team Magnus will continue to be the exclusive mini ski supplier for USA Nordic and its national team, providing athletes and coaches with its line of travel-friendly Tundra wolf mini skis for training, warm-ups and specific skill work. Through the partnership, Team Magnus will provide its signature Tundra wolf mini skis as the official equipment sponsor for USA Nordic’s Olympic-renowned athletes, team members and sports clubs around the nation.
The new club program will provide local ski organizations with the tools to help get more kids on snow this winter. USA Nordic’s local programs are an introductory pathway for kids to discover snow sports, much like Olympic champion Billy Demong did growing up in a small community in the Adirondack region of New York State.
“The unique Team Magnus mini skis are an ideal introductory tool for our nordic clubs across the country to get kids on snow,” said Bill Demong, a 2010 Olympic nordic combined champion and USA Nordic’s executive director. “Team Magnus has brought great value with its support of our athletes. This is an important next step to support our local clubs and help them introduce the next generation to winter sport.”
The short Team Magnus skis simply strap on to kids’ boots and allow them to experience sliding on snow – many for the first time. USA Nordic’s club programs will now have an additional tool to use in holding introductory programs on-snow for kids this winter. The mini skis are also used as a training tool for existing nordic skiers.
“As fellow outdoor enthusiasts, we welcome our partnership with USA Nordic to help introduce more kids to the joy of outdoor sport through skiing,” said Kristine Moody, Managing Director of Team Magnus. “USA Nordic’s Olympic athletes are great role models for youth. Team Magnus is particularly happy to be a part of USA Nordic’s grassroots recruiting through our entry-level skis. Snow sports is exclusive in many countries. Greater access allows more kids to enjoy the unique excitement of sports on snow and ice.”
Founded in the United Kingdom, Team Magnus is the leading junior sports brand serving customers from around the world with its extensive collection of sporting goods and equipment. With this partnership, Team Magnus continues to expand its business and further establishes a strong foothold within the North American market.
Team Magnus’ Tundra wolf mini skis have a heritage dating back to the 1970s when they were developed in Canada and became popular in Scandinavia and the European Alps. Each mini ski features short, rounded tips and an innovative design that allows them to easily strap onto any shoe or boot for flexible training session and inspiring, skills-oriented snow play. The skis are available in nine colors and retail for under $50.
