Dear Nordic Community,
I have just passed my 90-day mark as CEO of USA Nordic Sport and throughout the first 3 months I have had an opportunity to listen, learn and engage with stakeholders, coaches and athletes to understand the challenges and opportunities that we face as a community.
Although coming to you as an outsider to both Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping, this passionate community has been welcoming, honest and transparent in their viewpoints of where USA Nordic Sport stands as an organization as well as the state of our individual disciplines.
I am excited to build off the great work that the organization has accomplished in the past, but I have challenged my staff that we need to continue to evolve and grow as an organization. We have been very busy over the last few months and I’m proud of the work that we have accomplished including:
- Working with our partner in Lake Placid in bringing the first FIS World Cup to the United States in nearly twenty years this February.
- Striking a new innovative partnership with Norwegian Ski Jumping Federation to provide our U.S. Ski Jumping teams’ advancement in coaching and training.
- Continuing to work with FIS and other domestic and international stakeholders to examine the state of Nordic Combined and determine the next steps after the unfortunate announcement by the IOC this past summer.
- Building infrastructure and creating assets to attract sponsorship partners to support the growth of our community and highlighting our athletes.
There will be several exciting new projects and announcements made over the next few weeks and several months that will continue to advance our mission not just at the National Team level but also providing more value to our member clubs, grassroots development, coach education and new partnerships.
As our National Teams begin the competition schedule in Europe over the next weeks, I will be doing more traveling domestically to meet and engage with our community. I would love to hear from you as our organization can’t do this alone and I need your knowledge, ideas and passion to move our sports forward.
I am looking forward to continuing this journey with you.
Cheers,
Adam Provost
