CONTINUING THE PASSION
Planes, trains and automobiles. 3 things you might not think of when ski jumping comes to mind.
Growing up in a ski jumping family, I jumped right into the life of traveling from ski jumping hill to ski jumping hill from the age of 2 years old. Every winter weekend was spent hopping in the backseat of a minivan, setting out to a cold and snowy jumping hill to train and competing with my friends and teammates. As I progressed as an athlete, the drives got longer and oftentimes the van was replaced with an airplane.
Now, some years later, my own skis hung up in the rafters, the weekend to weekend journeys continue. With no real home address to my name, I spend my days chasing ski jumps and coaching athletes who share the same passion for the sport as I do. Many days are spent in airports, hotel rooms and behind the steering wheel of a Volkswagen van flying down the Autobahn.
It is because of ski jumping that I have been able to travel around the world, see some of the most beautiful landscapes, and experience cultures far different from the one I am accustomed to.
I am thankful for the 8 hour van rides, 5 am train rides, and the late night runway landings, all to enjoy my favorite views from the coaches’ stand, where I always feel at home, although thousands of miles from it.
Away from our loved ones for weeks on end, I couldn’t be more happy to share these experiences with my “Ski Jumping Family.” I hope that I can continue my passion for this sport in honor of those who shared the same love for ski jumping that I do and are unfortunately no longer with us.
Best job I ever had.

Great family story! Trevor, you’re just full of passion for this sport – straight from the baby stroller onto the ski jump. Keep up the good spirit! Greetings from the Autobahn-Country 😉
