For all my short people out there: it is possible to grow 2 cm overnight! This photo is from Youth Olympics in Lillehammer 2016. Ski jumping has lots of rules about equipment and one of them is that your skis can only be 145% of your body height. At the time I was using 232 cm skis but when I went in the day before the comp to get my FIS measurements I was only 158cm. I needed to be 160cm for my skis to be legal. So that night I hung upside down from the bunk beds in the athlete village to try and stretch my spine. In the morning I spent the bus ride laying on my back on the floor so gravity wouldn’t compress me. When I went in for the measurements- Lo and behold! I was 160cm.
