Lake Placid, New York (February 11, 2024) – Men’s Ski Jumping wrapped up the World Cup events in Lake Placid, New York, earlier today.
Competition kicked-off on Friday, February 9th, as athletes took the hill for the HS128 Qualification. Andrew Urlaub recorded the highest finish in qualification, placing 39th overall with a 119.5 meter jump for 122.4 points. Casey Larson followed in 44th, going 109.0 meters for 108.8 points, with Kevin Bickner qualifying in 46th, as he went 109.0 meters for 103.1 points. Decker Dean finished just outside of qualification, placing 51st overall (91.0 meters, 76.6 points).
The Individual HS128 World Cup was then held during the morning of Saturday, February 10th. Larson finished the day 39th overall, going 112.0 meters for 112.6 points in the first round. Bickner followed in 43rd (107.0 meters, 103.0 points), with Urlaub coming in 48th (100.0 meters, 90.0 points), as all three athletes were unable to advance to the final round. Competition resumed later that day, with Larson and Ulraub representing the United States in the Super Team HS128 World Cup. Urlaub went 109.0 meters for 106.9 points in the first round, with Larson adding a 101.5 meter jump of his own, giving him 94.7 points. In the second round, Urlaub jumped to 107.0 meters for 94.7 points, with Larson besting his first round performance, going 110.0 meters for 111.2 points. The duo was unable to qualify for the final round of action, tallying 402.6 total points and ending their day in 10th place.
The events in Lake Placid then wrapped up Sunday morning, February 11th, as athletes competed in another Individual HS128 World Cup. Urlaub notched the highest finish of the day, placing 39th overall, as he jumped to 111.5 meters for 99.9 points. Larson was right behind in 40th, going 109.5 meters for 98.6 points. Bickner then finished 43rd overall, putting together a 109.0 meter jump for 96.0 points, with Dean coming in 49th place (95.5 meters, 75.7 points). All four athletes were unable to advance to the final round, as they ending their time at the Lake Placid Olympic Jumping Complex.
