Courchevel, France (July 31, 2023) – The FIS Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix circuit kicked off this past weekend in Courchevel, France. Decker Dean was the sole athlete to represent the United States, competing in two separate Summer Grand Prix events.
The weekend got started with an HS132 qualification on Saturday, July 29th. Dean put together a 104.0 meter jump for 69.7 points, finishing 34th overall, as he was able to qualify for Saturday’s Summer Grand Prix. Later in the day, Dean threw down another 104.0 meter jump, giving him 70.6 points to finish 39th overall in the season’s first Summer Grand Prix.
The next qualification was held on Sunday, July 30th, as Dean was able to qualify and finish 44th overall (100.0 meters, 48.3 points). During the weekend’s final HS132 Summer Grand Prix, Dean was able to best his performance from Saturday, going 109.0 meters for 73.5 points. Dean was able to earn a 37th place finish, ending his weekend in Courchevel.
Men’s and Women’s Ski Jumping will both be back in action this upcoming weekend, as athletes will travel to Szczyrk, Poland, for the next stop in the FIS Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix circuit.
