We are the oldest, continuously open ski club in the United States.
The club was started in 1905 by a group of Norwegian men. Most lived in Chicago and came out to Fox River Grove to ski jump. They created cottages on our club grounds to give them a place to stay while they were working on building up the club grounds or just having fun ski jumping. Over the years, men and women of all nationalities have joined the club to experience the thrills and enjoyment of ski jumping.
In the early years of the club, huge crowds came in from Chicago and its suburbs to see our tournaments.
The club has also had some promotional jumps. Once the Norge ski club rented out Navy Pier in Chicago and set up a jump where the jumpers landed in the water.
Another big event was when the Norge Ski Club rented out Soldier Field in Chicago and built a huge scaffolding for a jump event. They used crushed ice instead of snow to jump from and land on. It must have been exciting to jump from this tower at Soldier Field.
Kids start jumping young: kids aged from 3 to 90 can learn to ski jump at the Norge Ski Club. There are training classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays nights. The club may have a pair of skis ready for the kids to try it out. We have many jumps for the kids to get started and work their way through.
The kids in our junior program compete at many tournaments throughout the year at Norge and other jumping clubs across the USA. (Mostly in the central division.)

Do you dream of being in the Olympics? Did you know Norge is one of the top learning centers for Olympic Ski Jumping in the USA? Norge Ski Club has 5 jumps from beginner to advanced available year-round. In our program, participants will learn the fundamentals of the sport as well as the ability to compete in our annual Autumn and Winter tournaments. Most equipment is available for use at no additional charge. Beginners can also use alpine ski equipment (winter only). A great sport for families with multiple kids – they are all in the same place at the same time!
Our programs run from May through November (depending on weather, we may not jump in November) and from January through March. Beginners train Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
