PARK CITY, Utah (May 22, 2020) – USA Nordic has introduced two new subcommittee’s this year, a Venues Subcommittee focused on ski jumping structures across the country as well as a Women’s Subcommittee focused on gender equality in the sports of ski jumping and Nordic combined.
The Venues Subcommittee was created with the goal of maintaining a database of all ski jumping and Nordic combined venues in the United States, and to provide intellectual resources to assist with hill design, certification, homologation, hill technology, planning, and hill crew organization plus education.
Jarrett Moe, former ski jumper and now architect, is the Chair of this Venues Subcommittee, “I have become very interested in how we can progress the sport forward by examining how design can contribute to the growth of ski jumping and Nordic combined in the USA,” says Moe.
The Women’s Subcommittee was created to show recognition to the female athletes within the USA Nordic organization. The focus will be put on promoting gender equality in the sports of ski jumping and Nordic combined.
Sarah Hendrickson, a world champion ski jumper, is Chair of the Women’s Subcommittee. “Obviously, in the world of ski jumping and nordic combined, there is a huge gender gap in terms of number of competitions, prize money, and overall media exposure. With USA Nordic creating this subcommittee, we hope to work towards a more equal sport and raise females in the United States to reach their fullest potential,” says Hendrickson.
