For 20 years now the Park City ski jumps have been the quintessential gathering spot for the entire North American community of these fun sports. Springer Tournee is a mile-a-minute sort of week where there’s something for everyone. Fans from far and wide get to spectate the biggest names in the sports, the names they watched on t.v. mere months earlier in the Winter Olympic Games, the women and men of the USA Nordic ski jumping and Nordic combined. Fans get to be up close and personal during Springer. USA Nordic coaches come to Park City from around Europe to be on hand while their athletes gear up for the coming winter world cup tour. Parents of the national team members who don’t have the opportunity to physically follow their children around the world get to spend quality time just being a family in Park City. The amazing athletes themselves who refer to Park City either as their home or their home-away-from-home enjoy being all together with their community of supporters all around them.
Fans, coaches, parents and athletes of the smaller jumps feel the same level of enjoyment about the Springer Tournee and fans, coaches, parents and athletes of the even smaller jumps feel the same too. They are strolling Main Street, testing new restaurants and hittin’ their old favorites. Attendees are going to fantastic, fact-filled meeting for coaches, meetings for athletes, meetings for parents, meetings for organizers, meetings for sponsors, meetings for media, you name it, it’s getting hashed out at Springer. Everyday of the week has training, training, training, jumping, jumping, jumping whereby it’s a great chance to share ideas that are created in one corner of the country, by clubs from the Eastern U.S., Central U.S., Rocky Mountain region, Canada or Alaska and deserve to be disseminated widely. In between all of these activities are more activities as the zip-lines, tubing, hiking and biking trails at the Utah Olympic Park get tons of use from this outgoing Nordic crew. Finally, the Springer Tournee becomes the perfect place to host many formal and informally social gatherings for all ages. BBQ’s, mixers, fundraisers, whatever you want to call them, year in and year out, USA Nordic calls them family.
