For three dynamic days in June, 34 USA Nordic athletes were at the peak of their lifetime of training experience. Mayo Clinic, the new Official Medical Provider for USA Nordic hosted the Team at their state of the art Sports Medicine Center in Minnesota. Coaches flew out from Europe joining the dedicated states-based coaching staff along with USA Nordic Executive Director, Billy Demong for the intensive meetings. The womens and mens ski jumping and nordic combined teams attended.
USA Nordic National Team Director, Clint Jones says, “Having the entire team in one place was incredibly productive soaring out of a brief, well deserved rest right after a big winter of Olympic competition.” They had force-plate testing to examine the kinetic characteristics of an athletes movement, field testing, upper body ergonomics, V02 Max which measures the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense or maximal exercise, trunk stability and overall flexibility. Sports psychology sessions as a unified team that they had keeps a focused, winning group mentality in individual sports like ski jumping and nordic Combined. Sports nutrition classes got their minds and bodies feuling up efficiently, effectively and deliciously.
Mayo Clinic works with a variety of sports teams. USA Nordic athletes and staff left a positive impression of illustrated courage, confidence and character.
Upon leaving Mayo, to eagerly return three times within this year ahead, the Team traveled a few hours away to Coleraine, MN to the venue at Mt. Itasca to apply their newly found successful training tricks and techniques and begin to hone customized regimens and team wide strategies.
It was a great opportunity to have everybody on the same page as we fly into a fun summer of camps and comps around the country and around the world.
