COLCHESTER, Vt. January 31, 2020 – Olympic Ski Jumper Jeff Hastings has been inducted into the 2020 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. He joins nine other 2020 inductees hailing from various disciplines of sport.
Hastings, a Vermont native, still stands as one of the most successful American ski jumpers of all time. “I love Vermont as it’s a wonderful place to grow up.” Hasting continues, “I appreciate anything that ties me to the state.”
Hastings finished 4th in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, a monumental result for American ski jumping. He also finished the 1983/1984 campaign ranked 4th in the world- with a World Cup win in Lake Placid, NY. Hastings’s most memorable ski memories have nothing to do with his successful 1984 season. Instead he says, “My favorite ski jumping memory has to be building jumps with my brothers Brad and Chris in the woods behind our house.”
To this day, Hastings helps drive the annual Story Project at USA Nordic and finds time to stay involved and make a difference in the ski jumping community.

Jeff,
Along with your jumping and nordic combined success, your development and management of the Story Project are the threads that tie the generations of our sport together. Thank you for all you’ve done and congratulations on your induction into the Vermont Sports Hall Of Fame. Very well deserved!
